Terms

The short, plain version.

Last updated 16 August 2026 · applies to hollowmast.com and to the game served from it

The short version

  • It's free and there's nothing to buy. No account, no licence key, no subscription.
  • It's provided as it is. It's a playtest build made by one person; it will have bugs.
  • Your saves are on your machine and are not backed up. Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently.
  • If you send an idea, it may end up in the game. Please don't send anything you aren't happy to see used.

01Playing it

You can play HOLLOWMAST for free, as much as you like, without an account or a payment. There is no licence to buy and no feature held back for money.

What is asked in return is small: don't attack the site or the endpoint that receives reports, don't try to flood either with automated traffic, and don't use the feedback form to send abuse or anything unlawful.

02Your saved games

Saves live in your own browser's storage on your own device. They are never uploaded, which also means they are never backed up. Clearing your browsing data, using private browsing, or switching browser or machine will lose them, and there is no copy anywhere for anyone to restore.

The game is under active development. A build may change the save format, in which case an older save will refuse to open rather than be silently destroyed — but it may still be unplayable in the new version.

03Ideas and bug reports you send

If you send a feature request, a bug report or any other suggestion, you are giving permission for it to be used to develop the game, without payment, and without any obligation to credit you. That is not a trick clause: a great many people suggest the same handful of things, and no game could take suggestions at all if each one created a claim over whatever got built afterwards.

The practical version: please don't send anything you would be unhappy to see in the game, and don't send anything confidential or anything that belongs to somebody else.

Submissions are anonymous by design, so there is no way to reply, and no way to identify a message as yours later. The privacy policy sets out exactly what the form transmits.

04Advertising

This website carries no advertising today, and the intention is that it eventually will, so the game can stay free with nothing in it to buy. Any advertising will be on this website only and never inside the game.

Adverts are supplied by other companies. Their content is theirs, not mine, and appearing here is not a recommendation of anything advertised — if you buy something from an advert, that transaction is between you and them. What advertising means for cookies and your data is covered in section 6 of the privacy policy, and you will be asked before any advertising cookie is set.

05What isn't promised

The game and this site are provided as they are. Nothing here promises that the game is free of faults, that it will run on any particular device, that it will stay available, or that a run you are enjoying will survive the next build. It is an in-development playtest, offered free, and it is entirely reasonable to expect it to break sometimes.

The game needs a keyboard and a browser with WebGL. There is no obligation to keep supporting any particular browser, and no obligation to keep the site online.

06Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for loss or damage arising from playing the game or using this site — including lost saves, lost time, or anything an advertiser does.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, which includes death or personal injury caused by negligence, and fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep every right the law gives you, and nothing in these terms takes any of them away.

07The game itself

HOLLOWMAST, its name, its code and everything generated by it remain the work of its author. Playing it does not transfer any ownership. Please don't repackage it, sell it, or publish it as your own work.

Recording it, streaming it, writing about it and sharing screenshots are all explicitly fine, including monetised videos, and no permission needs asking.

08Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not remove the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.

09Changes

These terms can change as the game does, and the date at the top changes with them. Anything material — advertising arriving being the obvious one — gets a visible note on the site rather than a silent edit.
